Eaton Learning Centre is centrally located in Vancouver and offers a safe and welcoming environment for all clients. Staff members are well aware of the frustrations and anxiety often associated with learning difficulties or disabilities, and aim to provide support and awareness of each client's individual learning style. Such awareness fosters empowerment and increased self-confidence, both proven characteristics of success for all individuals. Staff members are also well aware that many people with learning differences have exceptional talents in other areas of life that should be highlighted, discussed, and encouraged.
Howard Eaton, Ed.M, CEO
Eaton Learning Centre was founded by Howard Eaton in 1994 in order to change the lives of individuals with learning differences. Diagnosed with a severe Reading and Written Expression Disorder in 1972, Howard was fortunate to receive intensive remediation. He went on to earn a degree in Psychology at the University of British Columbia and then a Masters in Education at Boston University, where he specialized in Special Education and Assessment.
Over the last 13 years, Howard has been involved in conducting psycho-educational assessments, training teachers at both public and private schools across the Lower Mainland, writing curricula on Self-Advocacy and Transition Planning, and teaching at the University of British Columbia as a Sessional Instructor for the Faculty of Education Psychology and Special Education. He recently opened the Eaton Arrowsmith School at UBC for the cognitive remediation of youth and young adults with learning disabilities, as well as Eaton Brain Improvement Program at Oakridge Shopping Centre for improving and maintaining cognitive functioning in adults.
